Julien Alfred is a Saint Lucian track and field athlete. She earned the limelight for becoming the first-ever Olympic gold medalist for her country Saint Lucia.

Julien Alfred is of mixed heritage. Her parents are Julian Hamilton and Joanna Alfred. She has three siblings (a sister and 2 brothers) namely Juliana Hamilton, Daniel Alfred, and Chad Alfred.
Personal Life
After finishing middle school at Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School, Julien moved to Jamaica where she attended Saint Catherine High School to finish high school.
She attended the University of Texas and studied Youth and Community Studies. She was a student-athlete, thereby representing the university’s track and field team Texas Longhorns in various competitions.
Career
Julien Alfred began training in her high school days. During that time, she was coached by Marlon James & Cuthbert Modeste and held a personal best of 11.53 in 100m. In 2015, she was crowned as the Central American and Caribbean U15 champion.
Two years later, she participated as a junior in the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and became a champion. Since joining UT in 2018, she participated in collegiate competitions.
In 2019 she was the Big 12 Women’s Outdoor Champion in 4x100m and earned multiple titles the next year including 2020 Big 12 Women’s Indoor Performer of the Year. In 2022, she competed in the 2022 NCAA Championships and won 100m and 4x100m races.
That year, she was placed 1st and 2nd in 100m races at Caribbean Games (U23) and Commonwealth Games. In 2023, she was the 100m champion at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
Before appearing at the Olympics in 2024, she finished a 60m race in 6.98 seconds to win gold at the World Indoor Championships.
She made history for her country after winning a gold medal in the women’s 100m track and field. Completing the race in 10.72 seconds (personal best), she was ahead of top athletes such as Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson.
