Asher Hong is an American artistic gymnast. He represented the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in men’s gymnastics.
The 20-year-old athlete was born on 23 March 2004 in Plano, Texas, USA. Regardless of his young age, he received medals in various events including the the 2023 US Classic.

Asher Hong is of a Chinese ethnic background. His parents are Rick and Karen Hosanna Hong.
His father Rick is a 1997 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign graduate. He currently works as a Senior DevOps Engineer at DynataGlobal and previously worked at companies such as Expedia, Hotels.com, and DNA Productions per Facebook.
His mother Karen is an RCM Representative at Evernorth-Accredo Pharmacy. He has two siblings namely Xander and Kiefer Hong. They both are national gymnasts.
Personal Life
Growing up, Hong claimed door frames after watching Spider-Man and took up the sport in 2009.
He finished schooling at Edgenuity Virtual Academy. He is a sophomore student at Stanford University and will graduate in 2026.
Career
Asher Hong started his career at 14 by competing in the U14 International Junior Team Cup. He was placed first in still rings and parallel bars. It was followed by a gold medal at all-around in the 2018 Winter Cup.
He represented the US junior team at the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships and the team was placed first. Then, the team received gold medals in the Elite Team Cup in 2020 and 2021. Also, he placed first in all events at the 2021 Winter Cup except vault.
His senior career started in 2022 with the 2022 Winter Cup where he won gold in vault. The US team claimed the gold medal at the 2022 DTB Pokal Team Challenge with the first spot in still rings and a silver in the floor exercise.
He continued to showcase stellar performances in 2023 at the DTB Pokal Team Challenge, MPSF Championships, NCAA Championships, and US Classic. The same repeated at the 2024 MPSF Championships and NCAA Championships.
Due to his immense talent, he was selected for the US national team for gymnastics at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The five-member team won the US a bronze medal in this event.
