Hinchliffe finished high school at Notre Dame High School. He played golf as a teenager and was even offered trials for the English football club Manchester City. He ignored other sports and focused on sprinting.
For his bachelor’s, he pursued business and IT from Lancaster University. Following this, he earned a one-year scholarship at Washington State University.
Career
Louie Hinchliffe has been a sporty person growing up. As per his profile on The Power of 10, he first began participating in running events in 2012. As he specializes in sprinting, he mostly competes in 60m, 100m, and 200m races.
Though he has been an active track and field personality for a while, his major focus is on pursuing golf till he was 17. It was in the early 2020s when he began to take sprinting seriously.
Over the previous decade, he won in local events such as the Sale Harriers Open Series (2019), South Yorkshire County Schools Championships (2019, 2018), Sheffield Run Jump Throw Open Series (2018), etc.
In 2020, he was placed first in the 60m sprint at the England Athletics U20 Championships. Two years later, he finished a 100m race in 10.30 seconds at the 2022 England Athletics Senior Championships.
Upon receiving a Washington State scholarship, he moved to the US. He won the first race after leaving England. He displayed subpar performances at the 2023 NCAA Championships.
In 2024, he was transferred to the University of Houston and represented the Houston Cougars in sprinting events. At the 2024 NCAA DI Championships, he finished a 100m race in 9.95 seconds, becoming the first European to win the title.
A few days after winning the 2024 British Athletics Championships, he was selected for the 2024 Summer Olympics. He dominated the 100m race in round 1 by finishing first in 9.98 seconds.
