Personal Life

She relocated to Australia with her mother at age 6. Following this, she spent some time receiving gymnastics training. However, she shifted her focus to running and completely quit gymnastics at 11.

Once I quit gymnastics, I was looking for another sport to do and as I was already good at running I decided to focus my time more on athletics, I’d been running through the school system since I was eight, but only started seeing athletics as my sport when I was 11.

She graduated high school from St Peters Lutheran College in October 2022. She was admitted to six different schools across three countries before finishing high school.

Her mother raised $AUD 3,735 via GoFundMe to help her child attend the 2022 World Athletics Championships (U20) as it required Torrie to pay $5,500 for the trip.

Career

Torrie Lewis initially began participating in local U12, U13, and U14 events. At that time, she was coached by Gerrard Keating. She consistently came first in almost all the participated competitions.

In 2018, she came third in the 400m race at the Australian U15 Championships, held in Syndey. At age 14, she finished a 100m race in under 12 seconds. She won multiple medals at the 2021 Australian U17 Championships.

In 2023, she came first in 100m and 200m races at the Australian Championships. In May of that year, she competed in a 100m race at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix and came third. Later in August, she was placed sixth at the World Athletics Championships.

A year later, she broke several records after completing a 100m race in 11.10 seconds. One of them includes becoming the fastest Australian 100m women’s runner. She also achieved a 200m personal best at 23.68 seconds at the same competition.

She was the 2024 Oceania Athletics Champion in the 200m category. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, she finished the 200m race in 22.89 seconds (a new personal best) yet was placed fourth.
