Personal Life

Kennedy spent her childhood in Busselton before her family relocated to Perth. She joined an athletics club there and eventually got into pole vaulting. After a while, she started competing in local tournaments.

She attended the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle, Australia, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science.

She is dating Declan Mountford. He is an Australian rules footballer who plays in the West AFL.

Career

Nina Kennedy began taking part in international-level competitions in 2013. Her first competition was the 2013 World Youth Championships in Ukraine where she was placed 5th.

She also competed in World Youth Championships the next year and came fourth. Her senior started in 2015 with the World Championships. In the event held in China, she couldn’t clear the qualifying round.

She missed the 2017 World Championships due to a quadriceps injury. In 2018, she participated in the Commonwealth Games and won bronze by vaulting 4.60 meters.

She again suffered from a quadriceps injury along with spine issues in 2019. However, she competed at the 2020 Tokyo with an injury but couldn’t bring any medals.

She made a comeback by winning a bronze and a gold medal at the 2022 World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games respectively. Also, she became the 2023 World Champion by vaulting 4.90 meters.

She represented Australia in the 2024 Summer Olympics in the pole vault and won a gold medal by beating Katie Moon.
