Personal Life

Mangione is a high school graduate from Gilman School in Baltimore. Upon finishing high school in 2016, he joined the University of Pennsylvania and completed his bachelor’s and master’s in computer science in the next four years.

He was arrested on 9 December 2024 on murder charges. He was taken into custody by the NYPD from a local McDonald’s in Altoona.

Luigi was tipped off to the police by a McDonald’s employee who identified him. He was carrying fake IDs, a 3D-printed gun and suppressor, and a manifesto during his arrest.

Career

Luigi Mangione started working as an employee after finishing his graduation. Before this, in 2014, he co-founded a game development company named AppRoar Studios. He was the lead programmer and handled game design, SMM, and team management.

The company was shut down only after eight months. While he was pursuing higher studies, he worked as an intern and teaching assistant. Also, he founded UPenn’s club UPGRADE in 2016 and headed it for almost four years.

He joined TrueCar as a Data Engineer I in November 2020. A year later, he was promoted to Data Engineer II followed by a promotion to the role of Data Engineer III in October 2022.

With respect to his role, he overlooked various tasks integrating new API, building Druid dashboards, and developing a pipeline for ingesting data job metrics. While he didn’t update his LinkedIn profile, it is reported that he hasn’t worked in the company since 2023.
