Charli XCX is of Scottish and Indian Gujarati ethnic roots. His parents are Jon and Shameera Aitchison. Due to her Indian roots, many people think she is a Hindu but her religious beliefs but not shared publicly.

Her Scottish father Jon is an entrepreneur and talent agent. Shameera, her mother, hails from a Gujarati Muslim family. Her profession was as a nurse and flight attendant.

Charlotte enjoyed listening to songs from a young age. She started writing original songs at age 14.

She finished schooling at Bishop’s Stortford College. Aged 18, she enrolled at the Slade School of Fine Arts to study Fine Arts but dropped out during her sophomore year.

Her marital status is engaged. She is engaged to George Daniel, The 1975 band drummer. They first began dating in 2022 and got engaged in November 2023.

Her past relationships include Huck Kwong. Per Wikipedia, she dated him in 2014 but they ended their long-term relationship before 2022.

Career

Charli XCX debuted by releasing her first album 14 in 2008. She shared the music on MySpace which caught the attention of rave party promoters. She performed at these parties for a while before moving to London for higher studies.

After dropping out, she signed with Asylum Records. Following this, she moved to Los Angeles and released her debut mixtape Heartbreaks and Earthquakes in 2012. Five months later, she dropped another mixtape Super Ultra.

In April 2013, she launched her debut studio album True Romance. It peaked at #85 on the UK Albums Chart with over 12,000 sales in the US. Her second album, Sucker, released in December 2014, crossed 50,000 sales in the UK.

The album included a feature from Rita Ora for the song Doing It. This album helped her gain popularity across the globe. She released two mixtapes namely Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 in 2017 before dropping her third studio album Charli in September 2019.

In May 2020, she launched her fourth studio album How I’m Feeling Now. She completed this album in six weeks during the pandemic. It included a feature from American producer BJ Burton.

In March 2022, she released a BPI Silver-certified album Crash. While it only had 19,000 sales in the US, it was no.1 on the UK Albums Chart, ARIA Charts, and Irish Albums Chart.

Her most recent album, Brat, was dropped on 7 June 2024 under Atlantic Records. The BPI Gold-certified album included notable songs such as 360, Apple, 365, Sympathy is a knife, Club classics, etc.
